Installing

How does the adhesive behave during a wet install?

With slip solution under it, the film floats, so you can slide and reposition it while you line up the panel. Grab builds as you squeegee the solution out, and full bond develops over the following days as the last of the moisture leaves. A tack solution on edges and recesses helps them set early. The adhesive is engineered to be safe on factory paint, so a correctly cured install comes off cleanly at end of life.

Will it go around complex curves and into recesses?

Yes. The polyurethane is built for stretch, and G-SPECIAL in particular is tuned for easy handling on high-volume work. Use gentle heat to relax the film, then lay it down rather than pulling it into shape. Film that’s stretched hard into a recess wants to return to its original size, and that tension is what lifts edges later. Where a shape needs more than the film comfortably gives, a relief cut or an inlay is the better answer.

What causes edge lifting, and how do I prevent it?

Almost always one of four things: contamination on the paint edge (wax, polish oils, dust), tension left in overstretched film, too little wrap around the panel edge, or water and chemicals hitting the edge before the adhesive has cured. Decontaminate edges with an alcohol wipe, wrap where the panel allows, post-heat edges and recesses once the film is down, and tell the customer to keep pressure washers away from edges for the first week.

When can the car be washed after installation?

A gentle hand wash is fine after a couple of days. Hold off on pressure washing near edges and on automatic car washes for at least a week while the adhesive finishes curing. Small moisture pockets or haze in the first days are normal and clear as the film dries out, faster in warm weather.

Can I put a ceramic coating over GSUIT film?

You can, though our clear and matte films already carry a nano-ceramic top coat, so many customers won’t need one. If you do coat, wait until the film has fully cured, use a coating that its maker approves for paint protection film, and on matte and satin films use a matte-specific product. A gloss coating will change the finish. Our guide to PPF and ceramic coatings covers when a coating is worth it.

Film performance

Does the self-healing need heat?

Yes. The top coat recovers from light swirls and scuffs when it’s warmed. Warm water, a hot day in the sun, or a heat gun on a low setting will all do it. Each film’s page lists the temperature it starts recovering from. Self-healing fixes marks in the top coat; it won’t repair a cut or a gouge through the film.

Will clear film turn yellow over time?

GSUIT clear films use aliphatic TPU and a top coat with UV-blocking, anti-yellowing chemistry, both chosen to keep the film clear under Australian sun. How long that holds depends on exposure and care, which is why warranty terms matter. See the warranty page.

Does matte film change the colour of the paint?

No. G-MATTE and G-SATIN change the sheen, not the colour: the paint reads the same hue with a flat or satin finish. G-BLACK MATTE is the exception. It’s a colour change to stealth black as well as protection. More in our guide to choosing a finish.

How should I store rolls?

Keep rolls in their box, stored flat or hanging from the core, somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sun. Don’t stand a roll on its end or stack heavy items on it, as that can mark the film. Rotate stock so older rolls get used first, and let a roll reach room temperature before you install from it.

Trade accounts and ordering

Who can open a trade account?

Businesses that install film professionally: PPF installers, detailers, wrap studios and dealerships with in-house prep. You’ll need an active ABN. Apply here; it takes a couple of minutes.

How long does approval take, and what does it unlock?

We review applications by hand, and email you the result. Approval switches on wholesale pricing across the range, online ordering and your order history. You can sign in and browse while you wait.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer. Our account details appear at checkout and on your order confirmation email. Use your order number as the reference and we dispatch once the payment clears. Prices are shown excluding GST, and GST is added at checkout.

How do warranty claims work?

Claims come through the installer, not the vehicle owner directly. Send us the order number, installation date and clear photos of the issue, and we’ll take it from there with the manufacturer. The full coverage terms are on the warranty page.

Can I see a film before ordering a full roll?

Yes. Trade businesses can request free samples of any film line. Tick the lines you’re comparing and we’ll post swatches to your workshop.
